A career in the legal profession requires discipline and determination right from the start. The firm is extremely impressed by local students who display these qualities throughout high school, and we encourage them to continue this level of ambition as they pursue law degrees.
To reward and assist the most accomplished students who plan to attend law school, shareholders at MMR established a Law Scholarship in 1999 that provides select exemplary students with $1,000 to use towards their college tuition.
Each year, our firm chooses three high school seniors who are planning to become attorneys as recipients of the scholarship. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, achieve an ACT score of at least 26 or SAT score of at least 1180, rank in the upper 25th percentile of the graduating class and be involved in extracurricular activities. The selection process also involves a comprehensive review of other factors such as an essay, high school achievements and teacher/school recommendations.
Kevin Richter, a shareholder at MMR, is always enthusiastic when the time comes to choose scholarship recipients. “We are extremely impressed by the academic and community accomplishments of these remarkable young people,” said Richter. “We applaud their ambition and determination to become a part of the legal society and wish them the best as they begin their college careers.”
