Upon hearing the news, Small was delighted that the president of the ISBA thought he was the best choice for secretary. He previously served many years on the council. Being reappointed as an officer is a rarity, so Small is honored to be taking on this role for another term. “I am looking forward to another year on the board,” he said. “I would humbly like to thank everyone at the ISBA Commercial Banking, Collections and Bankruptcy Law for putting their trust in me. I am lucky to be a part of the exceptional work that the organization does for its members.”

The mission of the ISBA Commercial Banking, Collections and Bankruptcy Law is to promote professional excellence in the areas of commercial, banking and bankruptcy law. This is achieved by providing a forum for the exchange of information, experience and available materials relative to these areas of law. It also provides practical information, monitors fields of interest and anticipates problems for the profession through the analysis of existing and proposed legislation. This organization also develops members of the ISBA by presenting multiple continuing legal education programs throughout the year and creating useful reference materials.

In Belleville and Nashville, Illinois and all around Southern Illinois, Small focuses his practice on banking law, bankruptcy, real estate law, estate planning and commercial litigation. He has more than 37 years’ experience in handling these matters for financial institutions and commercial enterprises. He is especially knowledgeable in banking law and has represented over 30 banks from Springfield to Cairo, Illinois. Small has previously served two terms as a director of the St. Louis Federal Reserve Board. Representing clients throughout Southern Illinois, he has worked on cases involving breach of contracts, bank collections, foreclosures, real estate disputes, probate litigation, bankruptcy, estate matters and corporate matters. Small truly enjoys what he does, dedicating himself fully to each case and transaction. His practice highlights demonstrate his brilliant skills.

Small once represented individuals in a will interpretation case in which $600,000 was awarded to his client through the circuit court, appellate court and the Illinois Supreme Court. He also conducted numerous multimillion dollar complex creditor suits on behalf of financial institutions and individuals.
